I’m phone blogging, which means you will get mostly photos and very little text. Or sometimes it may mean the opposite because I often have trouble getting WordPress to upload my images. But wait a minute, you’re not in Arizona Maude! It’s true, but I’m behind. 😉
Jesse and I did a great trip together to Joshua Tree and Arizona before I skipped the country for a bit. In Arizona we rode most of The Fool’s Loop just north of Phoenix. Much thanks to Kirsten of Brush Mountain Lodge fame for the kind parking access and send off.
We had great weather and if anyone wants to know what the Baja Divide route is like, just ride the section of Fool’s Loop between the reservoir and Bloody Basin and you’ll have a pretty good idea. On the Black Canyon Trail Jesse started nursing a flat. We could have tried throwing all kinds of things at it, but we were running low on time and my Colorado friend Jessy was in the area visiting family. We had been trying to see her so she came and “rescued” us most way round the loop and we had pie and caught up a bit before she kindly returned us to our car. It was a short visit, but I hope to go spend some quality ride time with her in Colorado this summer. Thanks for fetching us, Jessy!
There was a very improbable looking section of track. Do we ride across in the water above the spikes? Do we carry our bikes across the green slippery rocks — that looked quite sketchy. Finally Jesse announced “there’s a walkway” under the waterfall. Cool.
Arizona is always good for adventures. And observing open carry.
Oh, one more fun story. At one point we were just riding along and I felt a sting on my inner thigh. Ouch! I didn’t see any bees or wasps around and thought maybe I got a weird pinch from my shorts or something. Then it happened again. Damn! What’s biting/stinging me? Then it happened to Jesse! We couldn’t see any bees around. I looked up and noticed we were riding under some very large and unusually low hanging power lines. I think we’re getting zapped! We had one more to go under and yep it happened again, this time on my hand. Dang! That seems dangerous.
My next post definitely won’t involve the desert and hopefully won’t involve electrocution! Thanks for following along. The adventures continue!
Wow that zapping does seem dangerous…maybe tRump set it up that way to discourage
Ill.-eagles. Lol
Another good story and great pics!
The electric company should be told about those wires.
Love your adventuring!
