Hello! I’m Heather, but I’m inspired by Maude. If you haven’t watched the cult classic Harold and Maude you really should! Maude is a great role model for living fully in the present moment with great joy, but without being overly attached to life itself. Maude lives, laughs, and loves! She also has an incredibly impish side, a part of my nature that I feel has been a bit lost due to age and life’s unavoidable challenges. Naming the blog after Maude is my way to remind myself to reclaim that aspect of my character.
I am in the process of leaving a career I have spent my entire life working toward (Biology Professor at a Community College) and am experimenting with being “off track” for the first time ever. I have spent my 20 years in California rock climbing, riding bikes of all kinds, building beautiful friendships, and adventuring! I am now taking the adventure on the road where I will be able to live constantly in touch with nature, cultivate relationships, and maybe even contemplate heady ideas such as impermanence. Oh, and there will always be a good dose of live music and dancing in there!
